One of the words I was led back to as I sought the Lord about the birthday blessing for 2024 was this word about secret lives being exposed. I originally posted it in FB notes (in 2011 or 12?), then here on this site in 2013.
Since these past several months have been marked by major exposures in the church and world, it’s been on my heart to share this word again – especially since the Epstein document releases have caused many to speculate about who all is nervously awaiting various degrees of exposure as a result. Though most of the nation and world aren’t experiencing this same stress over imminent exposure of things they’d rather keep hidden, it should still serve as a sobering reminder for everyone that an ultimate Day of exposure of all secret and hidden things is coming – and I believe relatively soon. But as discussed in this note, the Lord wants us to remember that this Day of exposure can provoke hope rather than fear…
May we pray that for those facing shameful exposures NOW – and for any wise enough to learn from seeing it happen to others – that this may serve as a wake-up call. While in one sense, it can be seen as a manifestation of God’s judgment (where the allegations are true), in another sense, if responded to properly, it can also be a manifestation of His mercy. It’s far greater for one to suffer the discomfort of exposure here, if they’ll seize the opportunity to be convicted of their sin, truly repent, and turn (or return) to Jesus as Lord and Savior, than to successfully hide a secret life and remain in sin here, only to face the ultimate Day of exposure with no further opportunity for repentance.
