(Part 2 – continued from same day)
That afternoon, while I was seeking the Lord again, He also gave me a word from Sparkling Gems. This one was also about the power of the Word, specifically regarding the fact that the Word is God-breathed.
“Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action)….” II Tim 3:16
This passage was particularly significant to me because it was a response to a specific question I had asked the Lord hours earlier, but in addition, He also showed me some common themes between this devo and the one He gave Jesse that morning (shared in part 1). Both discussed the inherent power in the Word and both talked about the exact same Greek word ~ the Greek word for BREATH. In this devo, Rick talked about the Word being God-BREATHED (and therefore containing God Himself and His power), whereas the one from that morning talked about the Lord overthrowing the enemy by the BREATH of His mouth and how we do the same when we speak His Word in faith. Both talked about the power of the Word to transform the situations we’re facing. Again, I believed the Lord was encouraging me that as we speak and declare His God-BREATHED Word we overthrow the enemy with the BREATH of our mouths (and HIS ~ releasing His God-BREATHED words with our own BREATH).
Later in the day, He gave me II Timothy 3:16 again. (more confirmation)
When we went to bed that night, Jesse read a few confessions for us (as usual) from my Healing Confessions Based on God’s Word book (2008). I had not yet told him about all of these other words from the Lord throughout the day, so I was in awe when he opened the book and read:
“I do not judge by what I see with my eyes or decide by what I hear with my ears. I live by Faith and not by sight. By the Spirit of Faith I believe and therefore speak. I strike the earth with the rod of my mouth, with the breath of my lips I destroy the works of the enemy. I will not lose my confidence and quit; I believe and RECEIVE! (Isaiah 11:3-4, II Corinthians 4:13; 5:7)”
He read only one more after this which was much more lengthy, again which had the theme of speaking God’s Word and standing on His promises. This confession ended with:
“I overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony.(Revelation 12:11)”
I knew immediately when he began reading the first one that the Lord was confirming this message to us AGAIN. When he then ended with Revelation 12:11, I was overwhelmed. It was such powerful confirmation that the Lord had spoken those verses (from Is 11 and Rev 12) to me earlier in the day as I thought and prayed about the devos He gave us from Rick and Ed. All these words in one day were undeniable confirmation to us that God was emphasizing that we must continue speaking the Word He told us to and continue standing in faith on the promises He has given us for our situations ~ striking the earth with the rod of our mouths, and overthrowing the enemy and his works with the breath of our lips ~ overcoming by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony! I knew He was again admonishing us not to grow weary and give up, but to “keep going,” “keep sowing,” “keep rowing,” “keep climbing,” “keep marching,” “keep speaking,” “keep moving forward” (as He’s continually been telling us) until we see the breakthrough of TOTAL VICTORY that He promised!
