“I WILL BE YOUR TOUR GUIDE”

(FB post June 10)

“This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is BEST for you, who directs you in the way you should go.” Isaiah 48:17

This past weekend we felt led to watch “the Blind Side.” Hadn’t seen it for a while and our ears were perked to hear what the Lord wanted to say to us through it. The primary moment finally came when bells and whistles were going off in our spirits, alerting us that we were hearing the voice of God through the voices of men. It was the scene where Ms. Sue, the teacher/tutor, was assuring Michael ~

Michael – I don’t understand.
Sue – Yet. You don’t understand yet.
…You’ll get there… BECAUSE I’M HERE TO HELP YOU USE THOSE MAPS AND REACH YOUR DESTINATION. Like Sacajawea helped Lewis and Clark.
… ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW IS I’LL GET YOU THERE.
DO YOU BELIEVE ME?
DO YOU TRUST ME?

The words penetrated and pierced straight to our hearts, letting us know that this was not merely Ms. Sue speaking to Michael Oher, but was the Holy Spirit (our Teacher/Tutor) speaking directly to our souls ~ continuing to confirm the leap of faith He asked us to take and to assure us that though we can’t yet SEE the next steps to get to where He wants us to be, He will make it clear.

Though I believed this was the message He wanted us to hear as we watched, the next day I asked for further confirmation. He brought to my remembrance Rick Renner’s devo that He’d given us recently about the Holy Spirit being our “TOUR GUIDE” to get us to our destination. Then that night when we went to bed, He gave us a word that said, “…I WILL BE YOUR TOUR GUIDE… TRUST. ALWAYS TRUST.” We KNEW He was continuing to confirm as many ways as it took for us to be FULLY PERSUADED. As always, He does exceedingly, abundantly more! This morning Ed Traut’s devo was also tracking with this theme! So I wanted to share for anyone else this is a word in due season for:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Lord will GUIDE YOU ALWAYS; He will satisfy your needs in a sun- scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58 :11
Sometimesfollowing the light the future seems unclear and hard to visualize – but HE IS LEADING US and we can rest in that.
•Our needs are always covered before they even arise.
•We have such a wonderful promise for the future.
Prayer: Father how I praise You this morning for Your wonderful love and promise and I am so grateful that YOU ARE GUIDING ME. Help me to rest in your GUIDANCE. ~ Ed Traut (He had this photo attached)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eternally grateful for how He always speaks the precise words we need! Praying all are receiving the divine directions needed for each step He’s asking you to take and trusting God for the ones you can’t yet see ~ knowing that as we continue to seek Him wholeheartedly and surrender to Him daily, He will be our GUIDE to help us reach the fulfillment of our destinies.

“Who, then, is the man that fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.” Psalm 25:12

“I’M HERE TO HELP YOU USE THOSE MAPS AND REACH YOUR DESTINATION. … ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW IS I’LL GET YOU THERE. DO YOU BELIEVE ME? DO YOU TRUST ME?” ~ Holy Spirit

Awesome Confirmation of “Go and I’ll Show You” ~ “OBEY So You Can SEE” – Link to FRC messages

(FB post June 8)

“We may have all come over on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.” ~ Dr. Tony Evans

You do not want to miss this message!!

We finally received the link for the message Tony Evans preached at the FRC conference in Washington DC recently! Our pastor showed the first few power packed minutes of it last Sunday as an appetizer and then gave us the full meal (25 min) Wednesday night. We wrote FRC after the Wed night service to see if they had all the messages posted online. Jesse received this link in reply! (When you go to the link, select the message by Dr. Tony Evans.) We’re looking forward to hearing some of the others, but you don’t want to miss this one!

There are many great things in it – but I nearly LAUNCHED THROUGH THE ROOF with praise when I heard the undeniable confirmations of what the Lord was speaking to us a week ago that I posted on Tuesday ~ about how sometimes the Lord asks us to take that step of obedience off the cliff of faith first, before we can SEE the rest of His plan ~ to OBEY so that we can SEE ~ to “GO” (or DO) in obedience to His seemingly illogical instruction that we’ve received, so He can “SHOW US” !!! Tony said ~

“When you see the movements of God in history – PEOPLE had to MOVE FIRST, BEFORE God WOULD MOVE. He told Moses … Hold out the rod, THEN you’ll SEE what I WILL DO! He told Joshua … tell the priests, put their foot in the water, THEN you’ll SEE what I WILL DO. He told Martha … move the stone, THEN you’ll SEE what I CAN DO! So what we’ve done is we’ve got this backwards. We are waiting on the Lord, when the Lord is sayin’ – ‘I’m waitin’ on y’all.'”

‘Bout to have my own praise service all over again!!! HE’S SO AMAZING ~ Always giving the precise confirmations we need to know we’re hearing Him clearly!! He’s graciously continued giving us others since – assuring us that He’s WITH US and will SHOW US what to do!!! Thank you Jesus!!!

We pray all are seeking and receiving His divine instructions and taking the leaps of faith He’s truly inspiring (and seeking till any counterfeit leaps are exposed) as you choose the Glory Road to the Utmost Life!

“Go And I’ll Show You” ~ “OBEY So You Can SEE”

(posted to FB June 3)

“Jesus said to him, You do not understand now what I am doing, but you will understand later on.” John 13:7

Often God’s divine instructions and strategies will make no sense to our natural minds. We may be telling God – “Show me and I’ll go!” while God is telling us, as He told Abraham, “Go and I’ll show you!”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Some have been in a season of asking God to open our eyes to SEE HIM and HIS PLAN CLEARLY so we can follow Him into the new territory He has for us. Yet, He may be telling us that we will not see Him and His plan clearly until we take that first step of obedience that He’s shown us to take off the cliff of faith (which may appear to us to look strikingly similar to the “cliff of insanity”).

“The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be CLEARLY SEEN by him and make Myself real to him.]” John 14:21

Though we may be asking to SEE so we can OBEY – He may be asking us to OBEY so we can SEE. If He’s given you enough light for ONE STEP, perhaps it’s time to take it….

Praying for all to seek Him and receive each divine instruction needed and to trust and obey (without delay)!

“All God’s revelations are sealed until they are opened to us by obedience…Obey God in the thing He shows you, and instantly the next thing is opened up…” Oswald Chambers

Powerful Follow Up on Confession #11‏- HFJ60

Oh my – God is sooooo awesome!

I’d been wondering and asking the Lord – “Where were all our confirmations in the past week of our confession/verse…??” I knew He was speaking to me about redistribution of some priorities, so I thought He was being more quiet this week about our confession in order to give me time to turn more of my attention to some other assignments again. Then yesterday morning while we fixed breakfast we listened to a Joyce teaching from last week (catching up, since we’d fallen behind again). AND THERE was our clear confirmation! It had been sitting there on Joyce’s site from her broadcasts last week, waiting for us to hear. I started to think – “If only I’d listened to it last Thursday when it aired, I could have sent it sooner.” But I feel like the Lord may be showing me that hearing it NOW allowed me to notice a powerful connection with one of the themes God was emphasizing to me last week, which I might have missed had I heard it sooner.

Our confession, as I hope you remember, was based on Jeremiah 1:12 about How God watches over His Word to perform it (or fulfill it). Though I wasn’t receiving confirmations of this specific verse, one of the things I did feel like God was reminding me of AGAIN last week was about the importance and necessity that we pray in FAITH and not in FEAR. A few days after I started feeling like God was bringing this theme back to my attention, and started asking Him to help me with that again, this Rick Renner devo showed up in my inbox (see entire devo at link):

If You Pray Wrongly, You Can Be Sure Your Prayers Won’t Be Answered!

Ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss…. — James 4:2,3

… The Greek word for “amiss” is kakos, which describes something that is bad or wrong. As James uses it in this verse, it depicts a person who is asking wrongly, badly, or inappropriately. You could say that this person is simply not hitting the mark in his request. Although he prays with the greatest fervor, he is not hitting the target with what he is asking. This person is apparently asking God to do something that is not in agreement with His Word. Therefore, regardless of how long or how passionately the person asks, God will not answer his request with a positive answer because it is not in agreement with the Word. Or perhaps this person is asking for the right thing, but because he is so fretful and filled with fear and anxiety, he doesn’t ask in faith. Rather than praying from a position of faith, he cries out to the Lord in fear and anxiety. But fear doesn’t move God — faith does. Hence, although this person may be asking for the right thing, he is asking from a wrong spirit. Thus, he is asking badly or inappropriately. This means what we ask and how we ask are both of vital importance if we are going to get our prayers answered!

Especially when I was younger in the Lord, I made the mistake of asking things wrongly when I prayed. Perhaps my intentions were right, but my prayers were not in agreement with the truths revealed in the Bible. There were other moments when I finally got my prayers in agreement with the Word of God, but I was so motivated by anxiety and fear that I couldn’t ask in faith. … I was praying from a wrong spirit — out of fear rather than out of faith — so all of that effort resulted only in a sore throat!

Have you ever had the experience of asking the right thing in the wrong way? Praying scripturally and in faith is essential if you want your requests to be answered positively. First John 5:14 says, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.” The word “confidence” is the Greek word parresia. It describes confidence, boldness, or assurance. It pictures a person so confident that when he speaks, he has no doubt about what he is saying. He knows what he is saying is correct or appropriate; therefore, he becomes very bold. In the context of prayer, this word presents the picture of a believer who is so confident he is right in what he is asking that he asks unashamedly and confidently. What can give you this kind of confidence? The verse goes on to tell you: “…If we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.”So when you 1) know God’s will and 2) ask Him to do something that is in agreement with His will, you can be 100-percent sure that God will hear you and that your request will be positively answered! This means you have solid ground on which to stand as you pray in agreement with the revealed will of God, the Bible. Since your request is in agreement with what God has already revealed in His Word, you know you can be bold when you make your request! And there is no need for you to pray out of fear and anxiety either. Just quiet down, and let the Word of God fill you with peace; then ask in faith.
First John 5:14 guarantees that if you ask anything that is in agreement with His will, God will hear you. In fact, verse 15 goes on to promise you, “And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”

Knowing what to pray and how to pray is vitally important. So always keep this in mind as you get ready to make your requests known to God: God listens for His Word, and He responds to faith. When He hears His Word prayed from a heart of faith, He is compelled to act. The success of your prayer life is up to you, friend, so don’t ask “amiss” when you pray. Make sure you are asking correctly and in an appropriate spirit of faith. As you learn to pray in line with God’s Word from a heart filled with faith, the answers you seek will manifest in your life more quickly and more fully than ever before! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It seemed like I remembered receiving a confirmation of this theme through Ed Traut devo recently too, so I looked back a few days and saw that sure enough Ed said:

“The Lord responds to faith rather than anxiety or stress that we portray in our prayers.”

When I first saw Ed’s message, it had served as a confirmation of things I’d just reread in the testimony of receiving healing for my torn tendon. I’d been convicted again that God wants us to stop the bawling and squalling of unbelief and instead TAKE HOLD OF and RECEIVE His abundant supply of provision that He’s already FILLED WITH and is trying to help us receive from the moment He hears our cry. So, I knew God was speaking to me last week again about the importance of praying in FAITH, based on His Word/promises, and not in FEAR, ANXIETY, or WORRY. However, I didn’t know why He wasn’t speaking to us about our confession/verse, to help make it greater heart revelation. Or so I thought… Until yesterday morning, when we listened to Joyce’s teaching from last Thursday. And then God tied it all together:

*****************
Joyce asked Lisa Bevere – “What are some key things that every believer can do to combat fear.”

Lisa responded, “Speaking the Word! I love that God promises HE WILL WATCH OVER HIS WORD TO PERFORM IT. (I was immediately excited to finally be receiving our confirmation!) Lisa continued, “I listen to how people pray (She then demonstrated a worried, fearful prayer and continued…). God doesn’t have to answer that. God watches over His WORDnot our worries – not our fears – not even prayers that are crafted outside of the will of God or the Word of God. (Immediately the Rick Renner devo came to mind, and I knew God was continuing to emphasize this theme). So, I’ve learned to pray HIS PRAYERS because if I pray His Word, then I’m actually speaking the language that the earth was formed by. (more confirmation of that recent theme!!) When I speak the Word of God, God’s like – “…Somebody’s speaking my Word – I’m going to watch over that!” So when you pray God’s Word, you pray His will. You don’t have to worry – you don’t have to administrate it. You just let HIM watch over it.” (from “Bold, Confident, and Courageous pt 1”)
*****************

!!!!! Needless to say, I was thrilled at how God was bringing our verse/confession together with the theme that had emerged last week of making sure that we’re praying in faith, based on God’s Word, rather than praying in fear, worry, or anxiety! Not only did He provide this confirmation, but in both this episode and part 2, God was all up in our business – as usual – with VERY TIMELY confirmations that were just what we needed to hear! Praise the Lord!

Hope this blesses and encourages you and perhaps challenges you today to make sure you are praying FAITH-FILLED prayers, founded on the SURE Word and promises of God. And then remembering to remain in faith after you’ve prayed ~ knowing that God is, indeed, watching over His Word that you prayed and pro-claimed in order to perform it!

Don’t Back Down from the Sharks

(FB post June 2)

Two friends recommended this article last week:

10 Life Lessons From A Navy Seal. I Will Always Remember

I saved the link and Jesse and I finally got a chance to read it last night! WOW!! This should so encourage everyone in the Lord’s army!!

He has spoken to us so much in the past 3 years through the analogies of training/preparing/fighting as His soldiers/warriors, to the point that one of the main words we believe He gave us to focus on this year was becoming His “Warriors.These lessons (in the article above) were full of such confirmation, resonating powerfully with what He’s been teaching us and experiences we’ve been through as we’ve endured the intense process of His training. So many things jumped out as precise confirmations of what He’s been speaking even in this most recent season, but just want to mention one of those here ~ a continuation of the theme of “NOT BACKING DOWN!

Though it’s come up before – He’s recently been emphasizing it and surrounding us with it. (I believe that’s a word for ALL in His army!)

(from note 11 I finally posted last weekChoosing the Glory Road to the Utmost Life) ~

“…an observable trait of those who have succeeded in life is their ability to OVERCOME adversity. ‘Difficult times will come on your path to purpose, BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN YOU BACK DOWN!’”

Then, Friday a movie we’d requested from the library arrived – it was entitled – “WON’T BACK DOWN!” It was also full of confirmations of things the Lord’s been saying in this season, including PERSISTENCE, Perseverance, Determination, NOT WAITING – but being compelled to “TAKE ACTION NOW” (another theme from the past several months mentioned in note 11), and doing the “Impossible” despite the odds and the opposition!

And now in this article too! Lesson number 7 is “If you want to change the world, DON’T BACK DOWN from the sharks!” !!

JESUS!!!!! WE HEAR YOU! Praying for all in the Lord’s army not to be broken by the season of intensive special forces training we’ve been enduring and to give up and quit, but to be among those who hold fast, pass the tests, and come forth as gold in the power of the Spirit to possess the land! Help us Lord!

Don’t Let Natural Logic and Reasoning Talk You Out of Obeying God

(FB post May 30)

So needed this confirmation today! Thank you Jesus! Right on Time as Always!

“Thank God for a good, sound mind, but even a sound mind must be submitted to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, your mind will develop a stronghold of NATURAL REASONING that starts to dictate all kinds of lies to your life. I call these rational strongholds.The reason I call them rational strongholds is that they are strongholds in the mind that make sense! You see, YOUR LOGICAL MIND WILL ALWAYS TRY TO TALK YOU OUT OF OBEYING GOD. In fact, if you don’t take charge of your mind, it will begin to completely dominate and control your obedience to God. It will tell you that you can’t afford to obey the Lord and that it isn’t a good time to step out in faith. YOUR NATURAL MIND WILL COME UP WITH A WHOLE HOST OF LOGICAL REASONS TO EXPLAIN WHY YOU SHOULDN’T DO WHAT THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS TELLING YOU TO DO.“~ Rick Renner (Two Kinds of Strongholds, Sparkling Gems – see whole devo at link)

“God has an Utmost Life for each of us! In spite of the battles we will face in order to climb the Glory Road to reach that Utmost Life, it will be well worth the effort to live a life of fulfilling His divine purpose. … I pray we will not let fear of the unknown, desires for comforts, pleasures, family, security, or NATURAL LOGIC and REASONING TALK US OUT OF OBEYING HIS DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS that will bring us the divine destiny He desires for us. …Let’s GO FOR THE GLORY and not settle for less than God’s BEST!” ~ excerpt from Part 11 – Choosing the “Glory Road” to the “Utmost Life”

GO FOR THE GLORY!‏ – HFJ59

Hope everyone’s having a blessed week and meditating on how God is watching over His Word to see that it is fulfilled. Just quickly wanted to share that I finally posted the next word in the prophetic series:

part 11 ~ Choosing the “Glory Road” to the “Utmost Life”

Also posted a shorter post earlier in the week about how God is

Saving the BEST Wine of the Spirit for Last / Not Settling for Less than God’s BEST.

Praying for us all not to settle for anything less than the BEST God has for us, but to make the choice to GO FOR THE GLORY and the UTMOST LIFE He planned for us!

Blessings and Prayers,
Laura

Choosing the “Glory Road” to the “Utmost Life” – part 3

Note 11 – Part 3 (see part 1 or part 2 here; Navigation forward and backward to other notes at bottom of screen)

God’s Looking for PIONEERS

A Pioneer is “one who ventures into unknown or unclaimed territory; one who opens up new areas; one who PREPARES THE WAY.”  (John the Baptist Call – Prepare the Way of the Lord!) “God is always looking for pioneers; people who WILL NOT less than bestSETTLE FOR LESS THAN GOD’S BEST.” The spirit of faith will keep them MOVING FORWARD and EXPECTING MIRACLES. “The spirit of faith is not afraid to leave things behind. There are some things that could weigh us down and hinder us from making it over the next mountain to the next level of faith and GLORY. It can be difficult to lay aside TREASURED items and ways of thinking, but the REWARDS of obeying God KEEP US MOVING.”

(Laying aside our “treasures”/bringing God our “treasure” had also become a significant theme. Among all the words about the Hannah sacrifice, laying all on the altar, surrendering all, etc., the Lord had also begun to speak in terms of “treasure” ~ referencing Mary’s extravagant offering of the alabaster box, the wise men who, upon Jesus’ birth, came to lay their “treasures” at His feet, etc.)

There are 3 kinds of people: pioneers, settlers, and museum keepers”

Pioneers are the people who continually press on into new territory. They’re “willing to take RISKS and  confront the devil.” They’re not afraid of the unknown.

Settlers stop too soon.” They “don’t care what’s BEYOND the next mountain. They get too COMFORTABLE and don’t PRESS on to the possibilities ahead. Some of the tribes of Israel settled too soon and never crossed the Jordan with Joshua.”

Museum Keepers: These are the people who are content to dust off memories of previous generations and talk about past exploits.

God is looking for Pioneers who will not settle for less than His BEST!

When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before.” Joshua 3:3-4

“God wants to take us to “NEW TERRITORY” to go places we’ve never been and SEE THINGS WE’VE NEVER SEEN. The spirit of faith is a Pioneer spirit…!”

“Putting” You in the Right Direction (even when it seems wrong)

“I am a champion at ‘putting’ people in the right direction with the perfect pace so that they can fulfill their destiny. When you think I am ‘putting’ you the wrong way, remember, I can see the lay of the land. I know your strengths and weaknesses. ‘I will perfect that which concerns you.’ (Psalm 138:8)” (God’s word to Mark Hankins while he was watching golf.)

Every person “in Christ has a definite trajectory of faith and destiny. When it seems He is ‘putting’ you the wrong way, remember – He is a CHAMPION. He is able, by His Spirit, to get you in the right place at the right time to fulfill the call of God on your life.”

Notes and quotes (/paraphrases) from Mark Hankins, The Spirit of Faith

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Several weeks ago, when I was working on this note, I went back to the actual book to make sure I had the quote marks where they belonged. I was amazed as I thumbed through the book to see MANY other precise confirmations of things the Lord’s been speaking to us in this season! Think we might need to read it again!
Shortly after rereading these, the Lord led me to listen to a message by Paula White (who I haven’t listened to often). I was amazed when I heard her begin to speak about these SAME concepts with slightly different terminology. I knew the Lord was bringing more confirmation. She talked about how we can choose between 3 kinds of lives ~ an almost life, a most life, or an utmost life.
She described “An almost life” as the place everyone starts, at the base of the mountain. This group looks up, sees all the obstacles and which stepchallenges, and makes excuses for why they can’t do it and it won’t work. She stated that when we want to find a way we will; if we don’t, we find excuses. This group has a “can’t do” attitude and lives a caged life as a result.
The next group, those with “the most life,” start up the mountain. She described them as climbers who will climb out of the pits the enemy dug for them in life. But they don’t really have true purpose or know where they’re going, so they end up wandering and get stuck in the middle of the mountain when adversity comes. She likened the rough places in the mountain to what the children of Israel experienced when they came out of Egypt, but then didn’t want to fight the giants in order to take their promised land. So this group just camps out in the middle. She noted that an observable trait of those who have succeeded in life is their ability to overcome adversity. “Difficult times will come on your path to purpose, but that doesn’t mean you back down.” This 2nd group are those who choose the comfortable life, who decide to camp out where they are because it’s too difficult and requires too much effort to press through.
But then there’s a 3rd group who want the “utmost life.” Instead of camping out and staying where they are, they know there has to be more. They know the life God destined them for is larger than the life they’re living. They refuse to live the rest of their lives inconsistent with you've got what it takeswho God called and created them to be. This group is determined, despite the opposition and obstacles, to live out their purpose ~ to soar and climb till they reach the pinnacles in life. She talked about how an Utmost God didn’t intend to have almost children.
God has an Utmost Life for each of us! In spite of the battles we will face in order to climb the Glory Road to reach that Utmost Life, it will be well worth the effort to live a life of fulfilling His divine purpose. I pray we will all determine to be part of this group ~ that we will be God’s pioneers who will not settle for less than His BEST, but will choose the GLORY ROAD that leads to the UTMOST LIFE. I pray we will lay down and forsake any “treasures” or any “idols” that may hold us back from being willing to make the daring choices necessary to pursue this path. I pray we will not let fear of the unknown, desires for comforts, pleasures, family, security, or natural logic and reasoning talk us out of obeying His divine instructions that will bring us the divine destiny He desires for us. Though it might require perseverance and persistence to press in and continue to seek Him until the path He’s truly asking us to take becomes clear, as we have done this wholeheartedly over the years, God has never failed to astound us beyond measure with how He speaks to us as many times and in as many ways as necessary until we “get it.” Let’s GO FOR THE GLORY and not settle for less than God’s BEST!
to be continued…… (see note 12 here)
Good, Pleasing, or Perfect Will ~ Don’t Settle for Less than God’s BEST
One of God’s recurring instructions in this past season of seeking has been to make sure that our decisions do not lead us to settle for less than His BEST for us. In our past years of walking through prophetic process, we’ve seen this pattern occur repeatedly. Each time God’s been calling us into a major leap of faith that involved risk and sacrifice, several other doors of opportunity have also suddenly simultaneously opened which looked appealing. At times they may be counterfeit doors of the enemy to try to detour us from God’s plan. Other times they may be tests from the Lord to expose where our faith level is and how hungry we are to walk in His perfect will. Will we choose the path that looks COMFORTABLE and CONVENIENT and requires little faith (as He began to highlight in note 5) or are we ready to follow Him into the great unknown? Do we desire to know with all our heart which path He’s truly calling us to take in order to fulfill our destiny? Are we committed to seek Him until His best path is made clear and ready to pay whatever price is required to fulfill His perfect will for our lives?
As we sought the Lord a number of years ago about this phenomenon of multiple doors opening at once, He led us to a series of words through Mark Hankins book, “The Spirit of Faith.” In this past season as we cried out for direction, He led us back to my notes and quotes from this book:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Breaking Barriers” – FEAR of the UNKNOWN LIMITS GOD

“Some people will never obey God because they are AFRAID OF THE UNKNOWN (Mark said “ugh-known” based on a story he told). The unknownunknown stops many from moving out into the greater blessings of God. The need for SECURITY and COMFORT LIMITS the ability of God to move in their lives (more confirmation of the “idols” God began to expose in note 5). Abraham, on the other hand, left his country and went out in the unknown.

“By FAITH Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should afterward receive for an inheritance, OBEYED; and he went out, NOT KNOWING WHERE HE WENT.” Heb 11:8

“Faith is obeying God even when there is an element of the unknown. Faith obeys when you don’t feel like it or know all the answers.”

“Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, LEAN NOT to your own UNDERSTANDING. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will DIRECT YOUR PATH.” Prov 3:5-6

The GLORY ROAD

Mark tells how he heard someone prophesy by the Holy Spirit about 2 roads that lie before us:

“One road goes out ahead and is straight and clear, and you can see what lies ahead  ~ and it looks nice. That’s the ‘Blessing Road.’ You can take that road and see the blessings of God in a measure in your life. However there’s another road that goes a different direction up a HIGH 2 roadsMOUNTAIN. It winds around and you can’t see what’s BEYOND THE NEXT BEND” (though we can’t see it with our natural eyes – He asks us to SEE the INVISIBLE/UNSEEN WITH THE EYES OF FAITH to see BEYOND what we can see, as discussed in note 10, knowing the GLORY is at the top of that climb. GLORY has also been a recurring theme).The mountain looks rugged and rough. When you look at it you might think – ‘I don’t want THAT road,’ but that’s the road you should take. That’s ‘The Glory Road.’ There is much SACRIFICE and it’s more challenging, but when you get to the top and see what’s on the other side, you’ll be glad you chose that road. The GLORY of God will be seen by (and through) those who choose this road. It takes a spirit of faith to choose the GLORY ROAD.” Many just want the blessing and the road that requires the least resistance. There is a choice to make if we want to see the GLORY.

Mountain Moving vs. Mountain Climbing

“The spirit of faith MOVES the mountains that are hindrances to our receiving from God. (The obstacles and attacks of the enemy against us). The spirit of faith also CLIMBS the mountain that represents our obedience to the will of God.”

Who may ascend the hill of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God his Savior. Psalm 24:3-5

“The Glory Road is like climbing the mountain of the Lord ~ It is like a spiritual Mt. Everest.” It requires FAITH, TRAINING, DISCIPLINE, clean hands and a pure heart to make it to the top – but the rewards make the journey worthwhile. The GLORY OF GOD is seen and experienced by those who travel that way.

Faith to Forsake, Faith to Follow, Faith to Forget

It takes faith to forsake the ways of this world and walk in the ways of God. It takes faith to walk away from COMFORTS, PLEASURES, and temptations of this world.

“By FAITH Moses FORSOOK Egypt.”~ Hebrews 11:27

Moses left Egypt – (representing COMFORT, PLEASURES, sin)

Abraham left Ur of Chaldees – (representing family, heritage, false gods)

Peter, James, and John left their boats – (representing their means of livelihood, financial STABILITY and SECURITY)

“It takes FAITH to forsake, FAITH to follow, and FAITH to forget the past (Heb 11:15). If you keep looking back you can’t go forward.”

 “Remember not the former things…I will do a NEW THING; NOW it shall SPRING forth….I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the DESERT.” Isaiah 43:18-19

“…forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”   Philippians 3:13-14

Choosing the “Glory Road” to the “Utmost Life” – part 1

Note 11 – Part 1

To Dream the “Impossible” Dream

A few days before we watched SALT (either 2/27 or 2/28), The Lord gave me a series of words/confirmations: “BE FEARLESS” (Oh my word, Again! I hear you, Lord!), “Break the Mold. Be EXTRAORDINARY” (Extraordinary hadbreak the mold be extraordinary become another recurring theme), “Dare to Dream and Go for it” (confirmation of RISK theme from past years, and this began a “go for it” theme that emerged immediately. The first confirmation came in the SALT extras – see note 9), and finally, “What would you attempt to do if you KNEW you would not fail?” This last one especially struck me. Since we’d been praying to understand what we needed to do to trust and take the leap of faith and “have the guts to get in the car,” (after the series of Heb 11:1 words and the first Transformer movie – see notes 6 and 10) it really made me stop and think. “Lord, is this really you, and if so – WHAT IN THE WORLD are You trying to lead us to do through all these words?” A couple of days later, I was catching up on some Ed Traut devos I’d missed. When I opened this one, I was AMAZED:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“For I can do EVERYTHING through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 NLT
“There are NO LIMITS – I can do EVERYTHING.” (More confirmation of NO LIMITS / LIMITLESS theme. To clarify – we can do anything/everything that GOD calls us/tells us to do). He talked about how we do this through Christ’s STRENGTH, depending on Him no matter what we’re facing. This reminded me of our previous themes of operating in His Supernatural, Superhuman, Bionic Strength because He Himself is IN US and IS OUR STRENGTH (see note 2). He ended with a prayer ~ “Lord I praise you that no matter how hard or difficult it seems going forward, I know that you will give me strength. I have every hope that I will succeed because of that. Amen.” ~ Ed Traut
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But what left me in utter awe was the picture in the center which said “WHAT GREAT THING WOULD YOU ATTEMPT IF YOU KNEW YOU COULD NOT FAIL?” !!! Not only was this a precise confirmation from what I felt what great thing would you attempt to do if you knew you could not failHe’d said to me a few days earlier, but when I looked at the date this devo was sent, it was the very same day I felt the Lord had asked me the same question. With this undeniable confirmation, we began to give this question more serious thought and prayer (and invite you to prayerfully ponder this as well). He also gave us a word describing 3 groups of people – Those who make things happen; Those who sit on the sidelines and watch things happen; and Those who wonder what happened (lol) 🙂 – stating that He wanted us to be among those who “MAKE THINGS HAPPEN” (not meaning that we should try to bring things to pass in the arm of the flesh – but to be compelled to “TAKE ACTION NOW” (another recurring theme) on what He’s telling us to do). He brought a confirmation of this word immediately, and then gave several more confirmations in the next few weeks.

Counterfeit Clarity ~ Dividing Soul from Spirit

Entertaining such a question calls for caution. We immediately realized this was not a “blank check” to launch into whatever we wanted to do, expecting God to cause it to succeed. In fact, when I initially considered this question, the very first thing that came to mind that I would attempt to do if I KNEW I wouldn’t fail was something we’d already sought Him about for months last year. So we already knew His answer was “NO” to our idea of how to complete that assignment (and He’d given us His strategy instead). Therefore, He was clearly not telling us we were free to just do anything we desired, promising that He’d make it work. Yet at the same time we knew that through this line of questioning He was trying to bring something to our attention that HE DID want us to do – Something that all the bits and pieces of the puzzle previously received had revealed would involve laying all on the altar of sacrifice, being totally committed, fully surrendered and yielded to Him, divesting ourselves of comfort and convenience, would require seeing BEYOND what we can see / seeing the invisible to the point of being sure and certain (fully persuaded), so that when His request became clear, we would say “YES,”  trust and take the leap of faith, and “have the GUTS to get in the car.”

As we continued to pray about what specific dream He was trying to provoke action toward, a second idea came to mind. When we began to ask Him if THIS is what He meant, He immediately began to confirm.

Bringing us to the place of total surrender in this process allows the Lord to give us divine instructions that stretch us BEYOND what we would naturally be open to hearing or willing to do without a direct word from Him. But if we want divine results we have to be able to hear and follow His divine instructions, even if they defy human logic and reasoning. Our surrender allows Him to show us what desires and dreams are born of our flesh and soul (mind, will, and emotions) versus those that are truly born of His Spirit. For example, if we were to tell Jesse that the Lord was giving him a blank check to attempt ANYTHING and he was guaranteed to succeed, he would be a composer and musician one day, a minister the next, a pilot the third, a farmer the fourth, a professional golfer the fifth, a dive master the sixth, and we’re just getting started. He would own a castle (I suppose adjoined to the farm) and commute wherever he needed to go via helicopter (apparently to the golf course, ocean, and his ministry and music venues). And I could go on, but you get the picture. Clearly there are some “dreams” we have in life that are our own which need to be distinguished from the God-given dreams that are part of the purpose for which we were created. So allowing the Lord to help us sift and separate, dividing soul and spirit by the power of His Word and Spirit (Logos and Rhema) is essential.

Even when we pass this test and truly surrender all, saying “not my will, but Yours alone be done” in every area of life, we must still be alert and aware of the enemy’s schemes to deceive us. This place of total surrender God must bring us to can leave us in a vulnerable position ~ so open to whatever God wants that the enemy can seize the opportunity to introduce counterfeit versions of God’s vision. During this process, we wrestled with the question of whether God was asking us to do something extremely foreign and frightening. We came to the place of total surrender, willing to do even that if it’s what God wanted. But as we continued surrendering all and wholeheartedly seeking, He showed inception22us this idea was NOT from Him. He showed us that when He’s bringing us to the point of surrender to prepare us to receive and obey the often outrageous and challenging, if not “impossible,” instructions He needs to give us for the leap of faith He wants us to take, the enemy will simultaneously try to implant ideas for a counterfeit leap of faith into our minds. He reminded us that, “Jump and God’s angels will catch you and keep you from harm” (paraphrase) was one of the very temptations the enemy tried on Jesus (even using Scripture to support his counterfeit instruction). So we shouldn’t be surprised if he tries to deceive us in the same way. But if we are cautious and continue to wholeheartedly surrender and seek the Lord each step of the way, He will expose every counterfeit leap of faith and confirm beyond the shadow of all doubt which leap of faith is truly His will.
