My Food is to ACCOMPLISH and COMPLETELY FINISH His Work / PERSEVERANCE MUST FINISH Its Work – Wrapping Up Confession #10‏ part 2 – HFJ56

(part 2 – continued from same day)

Just as Jesus said that HIS FOOD is TO DO THE WILL of the One who sent Him – to ACCOMPLISH and COMPLETELY FINISH the work He sent Him to do – the same can be said of the WORD. The Word’s FOOD is TO DO THE WILL OF the One who sent it – to Accomplish what He desires and to Achieve the purpose for which He sent it. This implies that the Word, and Jesus the Living Word, CANNOT BE SATISFIED apart from DOING the FATHER’s WILL.

Again, we must also make the application to ourselves. If the Word and Jesus (the Living Word) are truly abiding IN US – then it/He will not be able to be satisfied unless it/He is accomplishing what God desires and achieving the purpose for which God sent it/Him in and through our lives. We will have divine discontent and never be able to be filled or satisfied until we get in alignment with His will for our lives and begin doing what He created us to do. There will be a hunger in us that compels us to seek out His will for our lives and do it. And, as the “Hold Fast” series emphasized – this is usually not something that we accomplish overnight – but is a process that requires ENDURANCE perseverance2and PERSEVERANCE to see all the way through to completion.

Do not, therefore, fling away your fearless confidence, for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward. For you have need of STEADFAST PATIENCE and ENDURANCE, SO THAT YOU MAY PERFORM AND FULLY ACCOMPLISH THE WILL OF GOD, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised. Hebrews 10:35 – 36

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops PERSEVERANCE. PERSEVERANCE MUST FINISH ITS WORK so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4

I absolutely LOVE how this translation says Perseverance MUST FINISH ITS WORK. To me, this personifies Perseverance and reveals this is its very nature and essence. Just like the Word and Jesus, the Living Word, Perseverance MUST FINISH ITS WORK. When we are filled with the Word and with Jesus, His character and nature of Perseverance will be at work in us to continue compelling and provoking us to not give up or allow our hearts/faith to fail or our minds to faint or break, but to keep pressing on and pressing in, to keep HOLDING ON and HOLDING FAST, and to ENDURE until we FINISH THE WORK He’s given us.

perseveranceWe have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. II Thessalonians 3:4-5
